To me, it was a little like Ernie Gann's, Fate is the Hunter (the book, not the movie) with a dash of Richard Bach and some slightly more detailed history of weather and navigation before the age of "can't get lost" electronic navigation. The fight for Atlantis continues as a weary king exposes sycophants who pray to the Old Ones. A very enjoyable read. Kept thinking it might get better, but it's just marginally okay according to my tastes. From the publisher's website:"Bundled into a super secret underground bunker Lilly must use her awesome genius skills – and her not so awesome social skills to survive long enough to create magnificently deadly creatures and escape almost certain death…"Sometimes I was reminded of the Lemony Snicket 'Unfortunate Events' series and at other times I imagined flashes of the Doctor Who tales that delighted me as a child - but in saying that, 'Miss Lionheart and the Laboratory of Death' is a unique and exciting read for children who like imaginative and intelligently written adventure stories. This is also where Sean and Miss Black meet and it's all so interesting learning all of this now after so much that has happened in The Arrangement.
